Harden Contract Features Ascend “Live Edge” Desk

Sit/Stand Desk Offers Flexible Work Environment

McConnellsville, NY – Since the introduction of the Ascend Desk, Harden Contract has expanded the line to offer desks and storage components which have been built around the original sit stand desk. In addition, the company is offering a new “live edge” top that preserves more of the natural beauty of the tree by keeping the natural layer that lies just under the bark as the edge detail, a feature that can only be accomplished when utilizing solid wood.

The Ascend desk provides maximum flexibility in work day postures using electronic lift motors that smoothly adjust the entire desktop from a sitting to standing position in a matter of seconds. The designer, Gregory Saul of Tolleson Saul Design, brings 30+ years of contract furniture design with an emphasis on ergonomic solutions for the office and healthcare markets. There is a growing body of evidence showing that sit stand desks not only improve employee health and well-being, but they are also seen by many as tools for better collaboration and increased productivity.

Ascend represents a new modern styling direction to better serve the modern office towers dominating sky lines today.  The simple geometric shapes and metal accents recall mid-century modern without becoming nostalgic. The modular construction techniques developed for Ascend has opened up possibilities for Harden to provide customers with a new level of flexibility and customization. Five styles of modesty panels and four different edge profiles allow Ascend to work alongside different styles of furniture for a retrofit option. With a supporting cast of storage credenzas and mobile pedestals, Ascend is geared toward today’s professional offices as an active interface to the modern work day world.

Founded in 1844, Harden Contract, a division of Harden Furniture, Inc., is the contract furniture industry’s largest privately held manufacturer of high-quality solid hardwood office furniture and is in its fifth generation of continuous family ownership and management. Ascend is made using the same rigid sustainability standards that earned the company Silver Exemplary Status from the Sustainable Furniture Council. Harden has a long reputation for responsible environmental stewardship and is defined by their fine detailing, rich hand-rubbed finishes, durability and craftsmanship.
